Lay It Down
Guilt has a way of lingering
long after the moment has passed.
It sits quietly,
replaying what cannot be undone,
whispering what should have been said,
what should have been done.
But guilt, for all its weight,
does very little on its own.
It does not heal.
It does not repair.
It does not move anything forward.
It only stays—
until we decide not to carry it anymore.
There is a better way.
Acknowledge it.
Own it.
Speak the apology.
Make it right where you can.
Learn what it came to teach you.
And then—
let it go.
Not because it didn’t matter,
but because you chose to grow beyond it.
We are not meant to be perfect.
We are meant to be aware,
to be accountable,
and then—
to be free.
Holding on to guilt
does not make us better.
But making things right…
that does.
And knowing when to release it—
that’s where peace begins.
