The Shape of an Unlikely Fit
Not everything that belongs together
looks like it should.
Some connections begin
with differences that seem too wide,
too strange,
too incompatible to last.
A pause where there should be ease.
A contrast where there should be symmetry.
And yet—
something holds.
Because sometimes,
what we call a mismatch
is simply a harmony
we do not yet understand.
One brings stillness,
the other motion.
One listens deeply,
the other speaks freely.
One softens the edges,
the other gives them shape.
And somewhere in between,
something rare begins to form—
not perfection,
but balance.
Not sameness,
but complement.
Perhaps the best matches
are not those that mirror us,
but those that meet us
where we are unfinished.
And gently,
without force,
help us become whole.
